The appearance of the Groß Rosenburger Church comes from a conversion of the former Romanesque church building, which is believed to have been built in the 12th century. The renovation took place around 1580, when a spacious baroque plastered building with a retracted choir was created. From the previous Romanesque building, the groin-vaulted chapel room (today the winter church) and the lower part of the west tower have been preserved. The oldest inventory item is the baptismal font from 1584, which is decorated with a relief-like leaf decoration

What a nice surprise to discover an open and so inviting church on the Easter Sunday tour between Calbe and Dessau. All doors are wide open and under the organ gallery there is a well-stocked library with books to take with you, of course also for a small donation.

A small six-page church guide (DIN A5) from 1965, which was revised in 2020, is also available for visiting the church. For details on the history and inventory, please refer to the common intersources on Wikipedia or the previous commenters.

Groß-Rosenburg belongs to the Egeln Evangelical Church District within the Evangelical Church in Central Germany. The church district extends from the state border in the east to Aken on the Elbe.
