Sur le Thier (also known as the Thier de Nonceveux) is a climb that is actually only made for cyclists who want to completely wreck themselves and their steel steed. The ascent is terribly steep with short sections of up to 25%(!!). A real tastemaker for those who are looking for such an adventure. All this is a stone's throw from the Redoute, so if you're in the area...

The climb starts on the road from Remouchamps towards Spa. The exit starts directly under the highway viaduct, so it is not to be missed. After a short bend the road quickly climbs to terrible grades. Perhaps even more terrible than the percentages are the hundreds of stones and loose asphalt on some parts of the road. If you don't start swaying from fatigue, you will have to protect yourself from flat tires.

When you get to the open fields it gets easier. The road climbs gently for about a kilometer. At the end of the road you can turn left onto the main road towards Spa or back to Remouchamps.

Golden climb to do, especially if you're already in the area for the Redoubt anyway. It's nice that it lasts a little longer than I initially thought.
