        The lighthouse has been operated electrically since it was built and has been remote-controlled from the headquarters of the Federal Waterways and Shipping Office in Tönning since 1976. It is therefore still a sea and landmark (Wikipedia).

          The 25.5 m high lighthouse in Büsum, built in 1912, is still fully functional and is a listed building. Before the lighthouse was built here, an oil lamp stood on this site, guiding the fishing fleet safely into the harbor. This lamp hung from a mast and guided ships through the fairway. The cast-iron elements were assembled on a brick foundation to a height of 21 meters. The tower, now painted red and white, was painted black when it was in service. The red and white color also makes it visible from afar as a day marker. The lighthouse in Büsum is still in operation today. For this reason, the landmark cannot be climbed or visited. The tower is worth a visit for its beautiful facade alone.

            Cycling was hardly possible at Easter 🤣 there is always something going on here but you should definitely see the beautiful harbor, dyke and the lighthouse, it is simply part of Büsum.👍
