After 3 years of renovation work, the Permeke Museum reopened its doors to the public on 29 March 2024.
When you say Permeke, you say Jabbeke and vice versa.
Constant Permeke (1886 – 1952) lived here for about 20 years. Born in Antwerp in 1886, he moved to Ostend with his entire family in 1892. He would continue to live there until the end of the 1920s, with a short stopover in England during the war years. From 1929 onwards, we find him in Jabbeke: he continued to live there until his death in 1952.

The house 'the four winds' was once the residence of the artist Constant Permeke (1886-1952). The sculpture studio is separate from the house. Permeke had it built between 1928 and 1930 by architect Pierre Vandervoort. He lived there from 1929 until his death in 1952.
