The Blaubrunnen with its crystal clear water is a historic fountain that was already used in the Middle Ages. Even though the water appears very pure, it is not suitable for drinking, but only for cooling down.

The Blaubrunnen owes its name to the bluish shimmer that the plant-covered ground gives it, or to the fact that laundry used to be rinsed here (in local dialect, "geflaut"), and the actual name "Flaubrunnen" was later reinterpreted as "Blaubrunnen". The spring has been "known since ancient times as a health water and used by the residents of the area", as it says in a description from 1859.
