"In the 12th/13th century, today's Slevogthof was built as the Meierhof of the Reichsburg Neukastel. The castle, together with the castles Anebos and Münz, formed the outer castle system of the Reichsburg Trifels, but was destroyed in the years 1525 and 1689 and has only been a ruin since then The Meierhof was also destroyed in 1689 during the Palatinate War of Succession.
In the first half of the 19th century, a manor house was built on the remaining foundations below the castle ruins, which was later run as an inn. Later acquired Dr. Peter Finkler, Slevogt's later father-in-law, the estate and the surrounding forest. It was Peter Finkler who built the octagonal crenellated tower on Neukastel in the style of Romanticism.
Essentially, the building structure of this manor house has been preserved to this day, even if many parts have been renewed or expanded. The later "Slevogthof" is a simple, multi-part building ensemble with an inner and forecourt and a terraced garden.
