Tiring climb up through the trees to Nebo, but plenty of shade to keep off the sun, quiet with places to stop. Well worth the views once out on the moor, last view back to Siabod and the Glyderau before heading over the moor on rolling tarmac, and enjoying the gentle gradient down to Pentrefoelas to pick up speed again. Nice looking cafe on other side of A5 too.

A lovely road - one of my favorites - between Pentrefoelas and Llanrwst. From the direction of Llanrwst, it's a 5km climb to Nebo featured in Simon Warren's 'Cycling Climbs of Wales', then you descend to Pentrefoelas in Uwchaled. I prefer to do it in the opposite direction; a gradual climb, with no challenging gradients, from Pentrefoelas with spectacular views across Snowdonia - the Cnicht on the left, Snowdon and its crew and the Carneddau. Descend to enjoy the Conwy valley. Fair road standard, some perforated sections. Café options at both ends of this section.
