An alpine pass that connects the Vanoi valley, the Tesino plateau and the Senaiga valley, the Brocon is located at an altitude of 1,616 meters between the municipalities of Canal San Bovo, Lamon and Castello Tesino. The toponym "Brocon" derives from the erica carnea plant, typically dark pink, commonly called brocon. The Brocon will be the absolute protagonist of the seventeenth stage of the Giro d'Italia 2024, when it will be climbed twice and will be the stage finish.
The Brocon pass is located on a pass between the Vanoi and Tesino valleys at 1616 m. A very open pass, which for about 4 km. it is flat and appears to be a small plateau, important in history for being a strategic point of the two world wars where underground bunchers and trenches dug by Austrian militias can still be found today.
