The building was built on behalf of the Oberamtmann Freyenhagen 1767. Above the entrance are the coat of arms of Freyenhagens and his wife carved in sandstone. From 1879 to 1973, the building was the seat of the district court. Since 1980 there is the police station. In the middle of the 19th century the manufacturer Wilhelm Lefeldt lived in the 1. Floor of the building. He ran a small factory for the production of agricultural machinery in the outbuilding. After thorough study at home and abroad, he managed to construct the milk centrifuge. With the new skimming process the butter yield could be increased by 30% with a constant milk quantity. At that time, this world-wide invention had great economic importance for the dairy industry. An original Lefeldt milk centrifuge can be seen in the museum of local history.
