Canales Reservoir is located in the municipality of Güéjar Sierra. This reservoir, opened in 1988, is located on the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and is a key infrastructure for the region.
Its main uses include water supply, irrigation and hydroelectric power generation. In addition, the reservoir area is popular for recreational activities such as fishing, water sports and swimming.

The Canales Dam is a gigantic reservoir at the foot of the Sierra Nevada and has made it to number 167 in the world's largest dam rankings - not that this is noted on a sign anywhere on site. But at least. And from the dam in the west you also have an excellent view of the reservoir and can relax and devote yourself to a small photo session - undisturbed by any car traffic. A highlight at the foot of an even bigger highlight.
