The narrow-gauge railway Eisfeld–Schönbrunn was a nearly 18-kilometer-long railway line that connected Eisfeld with the middle Schleusetal valley to the north. Because the terminus was in Schleusegrund, the railway line was also called "Gründerla" by the locals.

The local railway was a "Meining State Railway" because the construction costs of 625,000 marks were largely financed by the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen. The railway was built and operated in accordance with a contract dated June 16, 1886 by the local railway construction and operating company of the construction company Hostmann & Co from Hanover. The entire route from Eisfeld to what was then Unterneubrunn was put into operation on May 1, 1890. Vering & Waechter probably took over operations in the winter of 1890/91. The entire railway was purchased by the Prussian state on May 27, 1895, and the state railway has operated it since then. From 1920 it was part of the Deutsche Reichsbahn network and belonged to the Erfurt Reichsbahn Directorate.

Super-developed & paved bike path in Brno, which runs on the route of the former narrow-gauge railway "Gründerla" (ice field - Schönbrunn). Remnants of the railway can still be seen.
