The world is colorful - in Almócita! The small village in the middle of the Alpujarra not only adorns its house facades with colorful paintings and freely interpretable poetry, it also has a very special world record: namely the one for the largest working oil lamp. (Yes, there is, it seems, an entry in the Guinness Book of Records for this as well.) Once a year this is celebrated with the “Noche de los Candiles”, usually on the first weekend in May. Stopping by is worth it, because then the whole village steals in the glow of torches and oil lamps - and the big one is allowed to burn too.
