“Il cason” was the typical house in wood and reed where the fishermen of the Caorle lagoon lived with their families. During the war they served as a refuge for families who fled the country for fear of bombing. Over the years, as a result of the reclamation works that reduced the surface of the lagoon, and a fishing activity increasingly turned towards the open sea, the casoni suffered a progressive abandonment and its number was reduced to a few specimens. Some of these are still visible today along the cycle path that starts at the municipal stadium (Piazzale Olimpia), continues along Strada Palangon up to the so-called "Fishermen's Island" and from here, on a cycle / pedestrian path that runs along the lagoon and reaches in Falconera.

Casoni are the typical wooden and reed houses used by fishermen and their families in the past. You can still admire them today, along a highly recommended cycle/pedestrian road that runs along the Caorle Lagoon up to Falconera, some well-kept and cared for, testifying to a not too distant past.
