A super nice place for a great rest. I was able to have breakfast here in peace and watch the fish jumping and the wild geese landing. The break at Helenensee was really great

The area of the Ahlhorn fish ponds was artificially designed around 100 years ago. Valuable biotopes have developed from the ponds over time.

The valleys of the former hilly landscape were partly developed into fish ponds and are fed with water from the Lethe and managed by the pond management of the Lower Saxony State Forests. South of the fish ponds is the Weser-Ems forest education center, an extracurricular place of learning that is also operated by the Ahlhorn forestry office.
