Jan Hus is a Czech national hero and unfortunately a somewhat forgotten forerunner of Luther. Already at the beginning of the 15th century, making similar demands for the reform of the church, he was burned at the stake at the Council in Constanz, despite the assurance of safe conduct, which triggered years of revolts (Husites)
The Jan Hus memorial is a monumental sculpture on the Old Town Square. It was inaugurated in 1915 on the 500th anniversary of the death of the Bohemian reformer Jan Hus. It often happens that market stalls or other event structures obstruct the view of the monument. Take a seat and watch the tourists and locals go by.
