In 1842 the windmill was built as a three-story stone tower windmill (Tower Dutchman). The building material, basalt, greywacke and bricks, came from the ruins of the ruined Sommersberg Castle. The mill had a hood that could be rotated over a codend [2], including two grinding passages (grinding floor), which allowed the grinding of grain and peeling of barley. The grain was stored on the floor between the ground floor (miller's apartment) and the grinder. The builder was a Westphalian journeyman miller named Julius Robrecht from Würgassen (Höxter district), who had come to Fritzdorf on his rolling mill and was the first miller of the newly built mill to settle there. Later, after marrying a Fritzdorf woman in 1839/40, next to the mill, to which some land still belonged, he built a house with a barn and stables, plus a bakery and dug a 27 m deep well. On the first floor, in the former miller's apartment, oil was now made from rapeseed.

The importance of this 9th century road was initially political. The Carolingians and their Frankish successors used them on their numerous trains to Aachen, primarily to hunt and bathe there or also to obtain the royal crown (see also imperial crown). It was also used as a trade route, Heerstrasse or Poststrasse. It crossed many other important road connections such as B. the trunk road from Cologne to Reims.

In the 15th century the street was called Aicher Straße (Aachener Straße). After that she was given other names, such as B. Kaiserstrasse, Heerstrasse, Rheinstrasse or Hohe Strasse.
