The Burren - what an extraordinary landscape! On this ride through the barren, expansive limestone landscape, you almost feel like you are cycling on another planet. The endless crevices and rugged formations convey a very special atmosphere that you simply have to experience. It is particularly fascinating in summer, when the grey of the stones is broken up by colorful patches of flowers - a mixture of Mediterranean and alpine plants that grow side by side here. The ride through the Burren is not an ordinary experience, but rather a journey of discovery into an ancient world in which nature has played its own game for thousands of years.

A short rest on one of the many hills offers you the perfect opportunity to take in the vastness of this Neolithic wonder. Take a few photos here - the play of light on the rock seems almost surreal depending on the time of day.

The name 'Burren' means 'rocky land' and is used to describe the vast limestone plateau in north west of County Clare. The unique landscape gives a feeling of being on a different planet and has created a special botanical environment where mediterranean and alpine plants grow side by side.

From May to August there is a spectacular array of flowers giving splashes of colour to the landscape.
