The mausoleum, the burial place of the castle's residents. This mausoleum used to be a small pleasure palace for the castle's residents. They needed the building for their Sunday walks. Over 150 years ago, the pleasure palace was converted into a burial place when the dead of the noble family could no longer remain in the old place in the church crypt when the new church was built in Gesmold. A few decades ago, the bones of the dead were reburied in the cemetery at the Gesmold church.

The mausoleum on the edge of the forest behind Gemold Castle was formerly the burial place for the Lords of Gesmold Castle. There is a hiking trail from the mausoleum through the zoo to the castle. This path cannot be used by bike.
