The rustic Rötalm is crouched at the valley exit of the gentle high valley crowned by the Rötspitze. After a refreshment with buttermilk and typical alpine dishes, the promising and above all enjoyable route leads along the Rötbach, which meanders through lush greenery. Since the Alm has no connection to a road, bread and eggs are carried up from the valley. Gray cheese, butter and buttermilk are produced on the Alm from the freshly milked milk. The cows graze somewhere further back in the valley. Electricity is only available from the generator in the morning and in the evening for milking and what the solar cell on the roof has for evening reading. For the telephone network you have to walk to the red cross.

I was allowed to be a dairymaid on the Rötalm for 3 months and learned how little people actually need to be happy. (see zunehmend-wild.de/sommeroffline-von-einer-die-auszog/)
