The town hall was built in 1826/27 on the site of a previous building from 1608 (see cellar portal dating) in the line of sight of the former "Kirchgasse" (today "An der Burgkirche"). Hipped roof building with central projections crowned by a triangular gable. 1837 Bell roof rider with clock and weather vane added. Under the balcony the year 1827. Most important town hall building of classicism in Rheinhessen.

The use as a council house, initially also as a court house for Ober-Ingelheim, lasted until the municipal amalgamation of the three old Ingelheim village communities in 1939. 1994 conversion to a kindergarten.

The market square, which belongs to the early settlement core, is located with the town hall in the historical center of Ober-Ingelheim. Not far to the east of the square is the castle church and to the south the church of St. Michael. The war memorial from 1870/71, which replaced the old market fountain, was moved to the castle church in 1970. Since 2009 a new fountain by Wiesbaden artist Benedikt Solga has adorned the market square. He presents Ingelheim as the city of wine, asparagus and cherries.
Every year the new red wine queen is crowned on the balcony of the old town hall in Ober-Ingelheim and the popular red wine festival is opened. 🚴‍

Coming from the castle church over the vineyards you inevitably reach the beautiful market square in Ober-Ingelheim. That comes in handy when you want to take a little break. Depending on your mood, everything can be found here. A nice Italian or an ice cream parlor.
