All Saints’ church stands in an isolated position on a very ancient site. The tower and porch date from the fireenth century, and the remainder from an 1874 rebuilding in perpendicular/ decorated style with some Tractarian features. The eight bells were restored and re-hung in 2001.
The churchyard is fairly large and well tended by the ‘churchyard gang’, a dedicated group of volunteers from the congregation. In 2010 we were presented with a Diocesan Environmental Award in recognition of the parish’s “outstanding achievement” in protecting the environment and saving energy. The churchyard is still open for burials. Gwent Crematorium is about three miles away.
There is no hall, but the church has a discreet ‘portaloo’ toilet and there is hot and cold water in the choir vestry. While occasional concerts are held in the church, until recently social events and meetings have been held in the village hall or the cricket club pavilion. However in 2016 pews at the rear of the church were removed providing a useful area which now allows the opportunity to hold gatherings in church such as our Harvest Lunch. The Gate public house nearby is normally used for PCC meetings and is also most supportive of the church.
