Monte Calvo 1065m, is the highest mountain in the whole Gargano.
Inside the Gargano National Park, it can be reached from San Giovanni Rotondo via a narrow paved road that starts from the outskirts of the village in the cemetery area.
From its summit, in favorable light conditions, it offers splendid panoramas overlooking the valleys below, the gulf of Manfredonia, Lake Varano, the Apennine massif of Maiella, the Tremiti Islands and Monte Vulture.
Monte Calvo with the adjacent plain of Montenero is characterized by the high concentration of sinkholes of karst origin.
