The Diemelstadt community unites the 9 localities of Rhoden, Wrexen, Orpethal, Helmighausen, Hesperinghausen, Neudorf, Dehausen, Ammenhausen and Wethen with around 5,193 inhabitants (as of June 2019).

Interesting attractions of a 1000-year history are: the church ruin "Alt-Rhoden", the baroque Rhode castle with castle fountain and the hereditary burial of the Waldeckische Princely House.

The sights of Diemelstadt include the Saxon half-timbered houses, the Wrexer church with 4 church towers and the former moated castle in the Helmighausen district. Diemelstadt has numerous cultural and sporting offers. Numerous home and marksmen's festivals as well as annual stuff and cattle markets provide variety and entertainment. Building on the mill and hammer tradition, Wrexen became an interesting business location, especially for the paper industry.
