If you really want to 'taste' the 'Verdronken Land Van Saeftinge' choose to follow the path at the seaside marked at the entrances by the plate with inscription 'Eigen weg - Betreden op eigen risico' : 'Own way - access at your responsibility'. When I followed all the parts, the cattle was behind the fence towards the river (the entrance wasn't secured for the cattle neither). The only risk is that you might loose control of your bike following the trails of the tractor wheels.
When you follow the track do it at slow speed so you can have a look at the birds, plants etc. With a mountain bike: peace of cake. Almost in the middle of the track, you'll find the visitor's place. Worth rending visit to know more about this 'sunken land of Saeftinge'.

You can't get any closer to the lake by bike. An impressive vegetation right next to and right up to the path. The best way to prove this route is from Breskens, then you will experience full enjoyment.
