The imposing castle stands since 1927 under monument protection. It is considered the epitome of a romantic fairytale castle and so it is hardly surprising that it should have inspired the French version of Sleeping Beauty. In addition to the castle itself and the associated facilities, you can also visit an annually changing fashion exhibition of bygone eras. Of course, there is also a Sleeping Beauty exhibition.

Opening hours:
The castle is open daily from the 12th of February to the 5th of November.
12th February to 31st March: 10am - 6pm.
1st April to 30th September: 10am - 7pm.
1st October to 5th November: 10am - 6pm.
The inlet closes one hour before the end.

How to say... Big sigh!
The Château d'Ussé, renowned for being the inspiration for Charles Perrault's tale "Sleeping Beauty", has decided to organize a large part of its museography around the tale, thus allowing the visitor, through different rooms to a dungeon, to relive the highlights of Sleeping Beauty; It’s an understatement to say that it’s not a success! If this part of the visit will allow parents to drag their recalcitrant children into this umpteenth visit to a castle, the adult will feel offended by so much absurdity and mediocrity.
The regular rooms of the castle, which is still inhabited, are also the fruit of a similar attempt, trying to depict the different eras that have passed through the place - here again, we remain silent in the face of so much absurdity.
But finally the castle is magnificent, the chapel is superb and the gardens pleasant... and if you are able to get through this sad scene, stopping is recommended!
