In September 2017 it was still possible to visit the fort. However, some areas were already cordoned off. The woman in the ticket shop said that Dunbeg Fort is slowly being reclaimed from the sea. There is a picture in the ticket office of what Dunbeg Fort used to look like.
Dunbeg Fort on the Dingle Peninsula is an old dun that was used until the Middle Ages. Today you can visit the ancient dwellings, which were probably built 3000 years ago, for a small fee and be amazed at how small the space in which people used to live.
