At the end of the Camino de Santiago you can officially register as a pilgrim here in the pilgrims office. You will receive the so-called “Compostela” as a certificate for your pilgrimage and, if you wish, also a personal certificate on which your starting point and the kilometers traveled are noted. However, this costs around 5 euros. Do not forget your pilgrim ID, because it is required as proof for the Compostela to be issued. If you want to avoid long waiting times, I recommend going to the office early in the morning.
Many pilgrims are willing to spend half a day in the beautiful Santiago de Compostela just waiting in line to get a paper certificate for reaching the city. Maybe they need to do the pilgrimage again to understand what is important 🧘 ;-)
The normal certificate is free, the version with distance (km) information costs 3 €, a protective cover is sold for €2.
