The ascent/descent via the eastern flank of the Sigriswiler Rothorn is significantly more challenging than the normal route. The trail is steep, loose in places, and not officially marked – only suitable for very experienced and sure-footed hikers ⚠️🥾.
This is a T5 (alpine) trail with vertigo-inducing exposure in several places. A sense of direction and a complete head for heights are essential. This route is strongly discouraged in wet conditions or when there is residual snow.
Equipment:
Alpine hiking boots 🥾, possibly a helmet ⛑️, poles 🦯, and, depending on the season, crampons. Only attempt in stable weather conditions.
Note:
This route is not suitable for Komoot users with average hiking experience. Those looking for a worthwhile but safe alternative should choose the well-maintained ridge path from Wiler Allmi - Oberbärgli 🗺️.
