The Old Town Hall stands centrally in the old town of Lahr in the Black Forest, in the immediate vicinity of the Judgment Square.
Originally, the building was erected in the late 15th century as a typical town hall with an open ground floor.
A major renovation took place in 1608: The open ground floor was partially walled up, an external staircase with a late Gothic tracery balustrade was added, and a volute gable was constructed.
