A river crossing is an adventure of a special kind. Wading through ice-cold water, slowly, so you do not fall over, is only fun when you're over it. It's best to pack sandals or cross the hiking boots in a flat spot. Caution is advised with slippery and wobbly stones.
Here you better take off your shoes - nothing is more annoying than scooping and then having the whole day (and if you do not get the shoe dry even the nights) absolutely no joy to keep going ... A walking stick is here a fine thing for balance.
