Once flourishing under the protection of Waben Castle, the port of Madelon, with its medieval Berck fishing fleet, evolved into a marina due to the siltation of Authie Bay. Today, it has become a simple pontoon near a parking lot, but the setting remains very pleasant and the site is worth the detour!

Then placed under the protection of Waben Castle, this former fishing port was very flourishing in the Middle Ages. For many years it hosted the Berck fishing fleet.
The siltation of Authie Bay has favored its reconversion into a marina. The port facilities consist of a pontoon near a parking lot, in the course of the Fliers, a tributary of the Authie, at a place called “La Madelon”.

La Madelon was the home port of the Marianne Tout Seule, a replica of a traditional Berckois fishing boat, of the Flobart type.
Almost no boats dock at the port pontoon anymore, including the Marianne alone which is now in a hangar.

From the beautiful restaurant on the Bay of Authie, a narrow footpath leads past the small harbor of Madelon - and if the water is not too high, it even takes you the three kilometers to the bridge for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders towards the Baie de la Somme.
