At the location of the hydropower plant at the dam in Krechting, an underwater camera system is installed to visualize the fish passage in the fish pass (is a fish ladder where the fish can swim up a height difference of up to 2.8 m from the underwater to the upper water in 25 tanks). The recordings can be viewed at a later point in time via the website of Stadtwerke Rhede and a monitor on site.
Part of the building permit for the hydropower plant was the construction of a fish pass, which is necessary for fish passage. The function of the fish pass then had to be verified. The inspection of the lift system took place in 2008, the function of the fish ladder was checked over a period of 2 years. 22 different fish species have been identified there. Up to 730 fish pass the fish ladder every day.
