Konau is a small village in the municipality Amt Neuhaus. It is located on the eastern bank of the Elbe in the shelter of a high dike. Konau lies in the beautiful Elbtalaue and belongs with the Vordeichgelände to the biosphere reserve. Here are still the Lower Saxon farmhouses and farmsteads lined up on the Elbe dike as ever for centuries.

The courtyard with its thatched Niedersachsen houses, with their typical Durchfahrtsscheunen, Goöpeln and stables are restored in accordance with monument protection.

After the reorganization of the office Neuhaus to the district of Lüneburg, the population living there prevented, with the support of the municipality office Neuhaus, the district and the country the final deterioration of the village structure and the magnificent old Niedersachenbauernhäuser at the last minute.
