Memorial to the Victims of the Iron Curtain. It is a rust-colored iron sculpture deliberately reminiscent of a broken border element – raw, angular, open. Engraved are the names and dates of those who died trying to escape from Czechoslovakia to the West.
The memorial stands on the banks of the Morava River, where the heavily guarded border with the neutral zone of Austria once ran. Today, it is part of a small memorial area overlooking the Danube, Devín Castle, and the open borderland.
