The small town of Wilsede in the heart of the Lüneburg Heath is a sleepy nest almost all year round! However, when the sun shines in August and the heather starts to bloom, visitors from all over the world come to enjoy the beautiful heather landscape. Wilsede is practically the center of this spectacle. As a cyclist or hiker, you can get a lot of information about the heather, souvenirs and of course coffee and cake! You MUST visit this place!

In the heart of the Lüneburg Heath nature reserve lies the idyllic and car-free heath village of Wilsede. What makes Wilsede special is that it can only be reached on foot, by bicycle, or by horse-drawn carriage.

With its old buildings steeped in history, the historic town resembles a living museum village. However, it is still inhabited today.

During the summer season, Wilsede, with a population of 40, becomes a true tourist magnet. In addition to visiting the museum or the exhibition in the sheepfold, you can admire the many thatched-roof houses while taking a leisurely bike ride through the village.

The cafes and restaurants in Wilsede invite you to linger.

This idyllic setting can only be experienced in the heart of Germany's oldest nature reserve.
