Mount Kriváň (German Kriwan, Krummhorn or Ochsenhorn, Polish Krywań, Hungarian Kriván) is located in the Tatra National Park (High Tatra Mountains) and is an unofficial national symbol of Slovakia. More demanding than expected, but worth the effort. It is best to start from Tri studničky, because the red path from Štrbské Pleso runs.
For the ascent, be sure to put on hiking shoes that go over your ankles, as the path to the summit leads through rough terrain. Climbing skills are not required, but a certain level of skill is an advantage.
The summit itself is relatively small, so it is advisable to start early in the morning. In good weather you have a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains.
