Castle Hermannstein Castle Hermannstein, built in the 14th century, was inhabited by members of the noble family of Schweinsberg until the 18th century. In 1961 the castle was sold to Buderus by the Schweinsberg family.
The upper castle of Hermannstein Castle was built towards the end of the 14th century to protect the Hohe Straße and the Hessian border above the Lahn valley. Its shape is based on French donjons.
