The Pic de Bastan requires a small detour, but the spectacular view of the interior of Néouvielle makes it essential. Many lakes in the reserve come together in a single image from this vantage point. This perch is therefore ideal for realizing the toponymy of the massif.
This detour adds a good 200 meters of D+ (positive elevation) which is added to the 300 meters of D+ climbed to pass the Col de Bastan.
So it's a great challenge, but you won't regret it.
