Old Train Station + Amiche Cycle Path - Gau Bischofsheim 🚴‍♂️

The old train station was once the center of the town. From September 28, 1896, to May 31, 1986, the Amiche railway line (Alzey-Bodenheim) ran through Gau-Bischofsheim. Due to uneconomical use and the closure of the tracks, it was closed again in 1986. The old station building is now used by the local community's youth.

The former railway line now serves as a popular cycle path. The tracks were dismantled, and the "Amiche Cycle Path" was built in its place. The cycle path, signposted as the Amiche Cycle Path, is only partially identical to the original route of the railway line. The cycle path between Bodenheim and Undenheim is the most similar. From Undenheim, however, the signposted path leads over the also former Valtinche railway line to Nierstein. To return to the starting point in Bodenheim, the route is identical to the Rhine Terraces Cycle Route and the Rhine Cycle Route.

However, if you want to stay on the correct Amiche route, you must follow the signs for the Selztal Cycle Route from Undenheim to Alzey. 🚴‍♂️
