On 6th July 1942, Wellington Bomber R1465 crashed here, killing all five of its Canadian crew. A memorial cairn marks the tragic site and some of the wreckage can still be seen. Sadly, it is one of many fatal plane crash sites across the national park.

A crash site and memorial to a Wellington bomber that crashed, killing all five of its Canadian crew on July 6, 1942. You will reach the site at around 700m. There is an imposing memorial cairn there, which is normally adorned with poppies and quite a bit of wreckage. It is a very respectful place for the local veterans and members of the local community, who still go and pay their respects there to this day.

The Blaen-y-Glyn Uchaf and Wellington Bomber Memorial Trail is a fantastic walking route in Wales that will take you through the mountainous terrain of Brecon Beacons National Park to visit the crash site of a World War II Canadian bomber plane. While out walking the trail, you will make your way uphill along a stream to traverse the mountainous terrain, eventually looping around Bwlch y Ddwyallt and Waun-Rydd to arrive at the crash site. This is an excellent walk for those with an interest in history and scenic mountain views
