The historic "Hohe Straße" began at the mouth of the Nida in Nied and passed through Bergen, the Grosse and the Kleine Loh, the Wartbaum at Windecken, the Hirzbacher farms and Marköbel to Fulda. It is provable as a trading route since earliest times. At the beginning of the 19th century, it lost its importance to the cobbled streets that ran in the valley.
