It's a crossing that takes around 25 minutes. The Elbe ferry has been connecting Schleswig-Holstein with Lower Saxony for 101 years. It commutes around forty times between Glückstadt (Steinburg district) and Wischhafen (Stade district) from early morning to late evening.

If you start by bike, you come immediately and have no waiting times. The approximately 40 minutes on the other side of the Elbe are like an anti-stress pill and slow down instantly. If you are interested, make a detour to Glückstadt. If you only want to take a short cruise, stay on board and go back straight away. The crossings are always different. And for Glückstadt you should plan a few hours. The city is beautiful and immediately transports you to the Danish history of Schleswig-Holstein. Something for explorers and connoisseurs

The Elbe ferry between Wischhafen and Glückstadt should be integrated into a bike ride. If you want to go back, you can also use the ferry Wedel <> Lühesand and make a round trip on both sides of the Elbe. :-)
