The millennium tower in Magdeburg is the tallest wooden building in Germany with a height of 60 meters. The design and the overall artistic concept of the tower come from the Swiss designer Johannes Peter Staub.

The Millennium Tower was erected on the occasion of the 1999 Federal Garden Show in Magdeburg's Elbaenpark. Inside there is an exhibition on the development of science, with many vivid, sometimes interactive experiments. Among other things, the clock of Magdeburg Cathedral can be read through an astronomical telescope. A Foucault pendulum, suspended from the top of the tower, demonstrates the rotation of the earth.
