The historic hanging garden of Neufra
The historic hanging garden is a Renaissance garden that was created between 1569 and 1573 by Count Georg von Helfenstein with 202 serfs in front of his castle as a "hanging garden" on a flat surface on a specially built extension of the natural castle hill.
The garden is supported by fourteen vaults up to nine meters high.
The historic garden was restored in 1988 on the private initiative of Waltraud Johannsen based on a drawing from the archives of the Princes of Fürstenberg with the help of the Monuments Office.

The "Hanging Garden" is a special attraction of the castle. The former Renaissance garden, which Count Georg von Helfenstein had built on 16 meter high retaining walls between 1569 and 1573, has been redesigned and opened to visitors. The garden offers a beautiful view of the Danube valley.
