    The pretty town of Lovran is located six kilometers south of Opatija and is named after the evergreen and healing laurel. Lovran can be reached on foot along the promenade from Opatja. Ideal for those who seek tranquility and want to spend their holidays surrounded by well-tended gardens. The small town has an impressive historical heritage, a centuries-old tourism tradition, making it an ideal vacation spot. The old town is on a small peninsula. The houses in the old fortified town lean against the town wall, of which only a few original parts have survived. Only a tower and the Stubiza Gate have survived. The city developed at the same time as Opatija during the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The exclusive villas also date from this period.

        The popular tourist town of Lovran is located in the south of the Opatija Riviera, at the northern end of the Kvarner Bay, and is named after the laurel that is widespread there.

        The varied landscape, which offers everything from diverse beaches to evergreen forests in the mountains, and the Mediterranean climate are just a few of the reasons why Lovran has been visited by holidaymakers from all over the world for over 100 years.

        The old town enchants visitors with its historical charm. Sights include the Romanesque chapel from the 14th century and the St. George's Church from the 12th century. Furthermore, there are always various exhibitions and events with local dishes and traditions as well as a wide range of leisure activities in the city.

        Two other highlights are the ascent to the Vojak mountain, which offers a view over the entire coast to Italy in part, and a walk on the Lungomare, which connects the towns of the Opatija Riviera on the Lovran waterfront and offers a magnificent view of the endless sea and a picturesque landscape. The Riviera also includes Opatija itself and the towns of Volosko, which is attached to Opatija, Icici, Ika and the southern town of Moscenicka Draga.
