Lake Segrino is a small Lombard pre-Alpine lake located between the municipalities of Canzo, Longone al Segrino and Eupilio. Narrow and elongated in shape, it rises in the valley bordered by Monte Cornizzolo and Monte Scioscia in the Larian triangle. Lake Segrino is considered the cleanest lake in Europe by virtue of its underground sources and the absence of industrial pollution or excessive tourist exploitation. The vegetation is characterized by water lilies, reeds, black alders, willows and poplars and there are over 100 species of birds including the mallard, the gray heron, the kingfisher, the green woodpecker. Lake Segrino is the ideal destination for a relaxing day at the Aquilegia equipped beach where it is also possible to rent pedal boats and canoes, or for a walk surrounded by nature around the lake (5 km). Perfect place for a trip out of town, the Segrino lake was mentioned by numerous writers including Stendhal who compared it to an "emerald gem", due to the color of its waters.
