The Green Monument to the Constitution of May 3
In 2006, on the initiative of the "Forum Białystok Tomorrow", the Social Committee for the Care of the Monument was established, aiming at recreating the shape given to it in the interwar period. The honorary patronage was assumed by Ryszard Kaczorowski, former president of the Republic of Poland in Exile. The president of Białystok, Tadeusz Truskolaski, became the coordinator. In April 2007, thanks to the help of the city authorities of Białystok, the monument was restored to the inhabitants of the city. The place was tidied up, an alley surrounding the oaks was made, three missing lindens were added, and a pyramid-shaped obelisk was set up.
In 2010, the green monument and its surroundings were partially restored. The surrounding alleys have been renovated and some trees have been cut down. Instead, new oaks were planted to commemorate pre-war Białystok officials murdered in Katyn.
