      Rottenstein is now the smallest district of Aidhausen, actually a former branch of the former independent municipality of Friesenhausen, which Rottenstein brought with it into the marriage to Aidhausen as a not insignificant dowry.         From 1390 onwards, the Rotenstein office was mortgaged, which was an important source of income for the prince-bishops, who were always in financial difficulties during the 15th century. In 1525 the castle was razed by rebellious farmers from the Bildhäuser Bunch and was not rebuilt. Bishop Konrad von Thüngen had an office building replika väska built below Rotenstein in the hamlet of Rottenstein as the administrative headquarters. Due to the conditions of the Peace of Westphalia, a reorganization of the monastery administration in Haßgau was necessary. The Rotenstein office was divided and the Stadtlauringen office and the Hofheim office were formed.
