In 2018, Charlottenstrasse (and a short section of Schulstrasse) in Reutlingen was converted into a bicycle road, which is also approved for motor vehicles and which unfortunately continues to be used as a thoroughfare through Oststadt. On the approx. The 1.2 km long section has priority, cycling side by side is allowed, cars must keep a minimum distance of 1.5 m when overtaking, the speed limit is 30. At first I was very skeptical about the usefulness of the bicycle road that runs parallel to the bicycle path on the old railway line. I now use the road regularly, as it is much easier to get around quickly here. The parallel cycle path is also used very heavily by pedestrians.
