The Scherpenberg Castle was built at the end of the 16th century on the site of a former castle. Remnants of this castle are still visible in the western part of the current castle building. The castle consists of an elongated castle building with a gatehouse. This gatehouse consists of two and a half storeys under a wolf roof covered with slates. Bacon bands and a cornice of marlstone decorate the whole. In the lower storey there is a round arch gate with a rectangular limestone frame. A chronogram dated 1697 and the arms of the Vaes and Schroots families are carved in the center above the gate.

East of the gatehouse, a residential house was built in the 17th century with modifications in the 19th century. The brick house consists of one and a half storeys and is twelve bays wide. The whole is covered by a gable roof covered with slate tiles. On the eastern side, the front facade is flanked by a two-storey corner tower covered by a hipped roof.

In the garden, separate from the castle building, are two detached turrets with a constricted spire.
